I don’t know how that would make you any money. You can set up a cellular phone company with its own towers. Having one might be a bit too few, even to start with. Each tower is going to cost you several million dollars, factoring in the fiber optic link to the data center. The data center is going to be really quite a bit more expensive than a few towers. I wouldn’t start unless I knew I had fifty million dollars to get started. If you had thousands of subscribers after a bit you could easily finance further expenditures. What most folks are doing these days is contracting out the network part to companies like Verizon or AT&T. Then, they just are responsible for customer service and dealing with Verizon or AT&T. These are called Mobile Virtual Network Operators, or MVNO’s.
